Antenatal Doula Support in Worthing
I'm Mai, a doula based in Worthing. Essential Support is my antenatal package: gentle guidance and emotional support during pregnancy, so you feel informed, calm and ready for birth. I support families across Worthing, Brighton, Hove, Shoreham, Lancing, Chichester and the wider West Sussex area.
Message Mai on WhatsApp to talk about how you'd like to prepare.
What is antenatal doula support?
Antenatal doula support is one-to-one time with a doula during pregnancy. It gives you space to talk things through, ask the questions you haven't had time to ask, and prepare for birth in a way that suits you. It doesn't replace your NHS antenatal appointments or classes. It sits alongside them and focuses on you, your feelings and your choices.
What's included in Essential Support
Antenatal sessions. Relaxed one-to-one sessions focused on your emotional wellbeing, birth preparation and making informed decisions.
Birth preferences. Help to think through your options and write birth preferences that reflect what matters to you.
Hypnobirthing techniques. I teach hypnobirthing as part of my antenatal support: breathing, relaxation and visualisation you can use in labour.
Support for your birth partner. Practical ideas so your partner knows how to help on the day.
Reassurance. A calm space to talk about worries, a previous birth, or anything else on your mind.
Who is Essential Support for?
Essential Support suits you if you'd like help preparing for birth but don't need a doula with you during labour. It's a good fit if you're feeling anxious, if you want to understand your options better, or if your last birth didn't feel the way you hoped and you'd like this one to feel different.
If you'd like me with you in labour too, see Birth Doula Support. If you'd like support from pregnancy right through to the postnatal weeks, see Complete Journey Support.
Antenatal support questions
When should I start antenatal sessions?
Any time in pregnancy works. Many families start in the second trimester, but it's never too early to get in touch, and rarely too late. Read more in when to hire a doula.
How much does antenatal doula support cost?
Prices are on enquiry because every package is tailored. We'll talk through what you need on a free call and I'll give you a clear price.
Can I upgrade to birth support later?
Yes. If you start with Essential Support and decide you'd like me at your birth, we can talk about adding birth support, depending on your due date and my availability.
Is this the same as an NHS antenatal class?
No. NHS classes are group sessions run by your local maternity service. My sessions are one-to-one and shaped around your questions, your plans and your partner.
