Birth Doula in Chichester | Radiant Birth Journey

Chichester is a city with a strong sense of community — and one where many families take a thoughtful, considered approach to pregnancy and birth. Whether you're planning to birth at St Richard's Hospital or exploring other options, having someone beside you who is calm, informed, and entirely focused on your wellbeing makes a real difference to how that experience unfolds.

I'm Mai, a birth doula based in Worthing, and I support families across Chichester and the surrounding areas of West Sussex. Chichester is around 20 miles from Worthing — a straightforward 30-minute drive along the A27 — and it's a route I know well. I plan around travel time as standard, so you'll never be left wondering whether I'll make it when it matters.

Whether you're a first-time parent navigating a world of unfamiliar choices, or you've given birth before and want a different experience this time, I'm here to help you feel genuinely prepared, heard, and supported from the first conversation through to those early days with your baby.

What does a birth doula do?

A birth doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support through pregnancy, labour, and the early postnatal period. I'm not a midwife — but I work alongside your midwifery team so that you always have someone in your corner. My role is to help you feel informed, prepared, and genuinely supported, whatever your birth looks like.

I offer antenatal preparation sessions, full birth support however long that takes, and a postnatal visit once your baby has arrived. For a full picture of what's included, visit the birth doula support page.

Why choose Mai

I have a calm, grounded approach. I don't push a particular birth philosophy or steer you towards a specific type of birth — I work with you to build confidence in your own choices, and stay with you if those plans change.

Chichester families choose to work with me because:

I'm close by. Worthing to Chichester is a quick drive I do regularly. I build in travel time as standard and plan meticulously so you're never left waiting.

I limit my client list. I take on a small number of clients at a time, which means you get real availability — not a rushed service stretched too thin.

I'm steady under pressure. Birth can be unpredictable. Having someone calm and experienced beside you matters more than most people realise until they're in it.

I advocate for you. Whether you're navigating a change of plan or finding your voice in a busy clinical environment, I'm there to support and speak up on your behalf.
